Research Scientist, Danish Meteorological Institute (DMI)
Hi, nice to meet you! I work on satellite remote sensing of the cryosphere, polar oceans, and atmosphere. My research focuses on extracting geophysical information encoded in electromagnetic observations from space, and understanding the physical relationship between Earth-system states and satellite measurements. I develop retrieval algorithms and climate data records, study microwave and radar interactions with snow and sea ice, and develop radiative transfer models and observation operators that transform geophysical states into observation space. My current research increasingly uses these tools to connect satellite observations with numerical-model evaluation and data assimilation. If you are interested in how these research interests developed, you can read about my research journey.
Understand how Earth-system components interact with electromagnetic radiation and develop observation operators that transform physical states into observation space.
Develop satellite retrieval algorithms for sea ice and the polar oceans and produce reliable, long-term climate data records.
Infer atmospheric states from satellite observations and monitor greenhouse gas variability.
